Game for two pianists with two pianos
Game for two pianists with two pianos
-
Each player sits at one piano, such that both can hear but not see
the hands or arms of the other.
-
After counting off, the performers play a single pitch
simultaneously on their respective piano. The pitch is held for a
moderato 8-count (this may be modified by agreement of the players).
-
If the interval formed between the two tones is an exact major
third (neither inverted nor octave-displaced) then the player whose
note is higher wins.
-
If the interval is not a major third, the players repeat the
process, each pair of notes lasting 8 beats, until someone wins, or
they get bored.
-
A judge may be employed, or predetermined rules established to
settle disputes arising from one player failing to play their note
exactly on time.
-
[optional] When not currently the moment to play the note, the
players are free to play any other tones in any way, so long as the
game note is held for the entire duration and no other notes are
attacked at the same time as the game note.
