3.4.12 Sensuousness in art

A thing is sensuous, in a clinical sense, to the degree that is involves the senses. Going further, we can say that it is something that involves the senses in an engaging way. The term implies something that is captivating because of its degree of sensual interest—that is, something strong or immersive or powerful enough in a sensual way that it is difficult to turn the attention away from it.

Sensuousness is not an unconditional value in art, but inasmuch as it is captivating, it helps a human consciousness to concentrate; to focus. This is why is a value in perceptionistic art.
