4.9 The monkey principle

Some people believe in what they call The Monkey Principle: it means don’t let go of the first vine until you’ve got a firm grip on the next one. It means, don’t leave your current job until you have made sure you’ve found a new one first. It means, don’t move to a new place until you’ve found a job. It means, don’t take risks and don’t trust your ability to improvise and find your way even in uncertain times.

I’ve got a final word on the monkey principle: Monkeys didn’t build the Parthenon. Monkey’s didn’t discover America or cure polio. And monkeys sure as shit didn’t invent ice cream.
